Discover How Sick Spiritually Correlates to Sick Physically

Updated: Apr 13

.

In our ongoing journey of spiritual disciplines, I come across a fascinating parallel between our spiritual well-being and our physical health in my study of Biblical Naturopathy. Today, we will explore some correlations between the two and highlight the importance of developing spiritual habits in our lives.

Bill Yeary's Biblical Naturopathy (1) suggests that understanding how to restore spiritual health can provide insights into maintaining physical well-being. Through careful observation and scriptural understanding, he has identified correlations between our spiritual and physical states.

#1 - Sin and Toxins:

Just as sin defiles and harms us spiritually if unrepented, toxins can negatively affect our physical health if not removed. Recognizing the need to cleanse ourselves spiritually and physically is essential for maintaining overall well-being.

#2 - Evil Spirits and Pathogens:

Evil spirits seek to infest and control while pathogens aim to invade and find a host. This correlation signifies the importance of safeguarding our spiritual and physical bodies from harmful influences that can disturb our equilibrium.

#3 - The Word of God and Nutrition:

The Word of God serves as nourishment for our souls. Similarly, proper nutrition provides sustenance to our physical bodies, helping us thrive.

#4 - Repentance and Detoxification:

Repentance involves turning away from destructive behaviors that harm us spiritually, just as detoxification involves removing toxins that can damage our physical well-being.

#5 - Crucifying the Flesh and Daily Elimination Exercise:

Crucifying the flesh entails disciplining ourselves to prevent negative habits from controlling our behavior and causing spiritual dysfunction. Similarly, engaging in daily elimination exercises helps our bodies remove metabolic waste, preventing physical dysfunction.

#6 - Worship and Stress Relief:

Worship connects us with God, refreshing our souls and relieving burdens. Similarly, engaging in activities that alleviate physical and emotional strain provides stress relief and helps maintain our physical health.

#7 - Warfare Prayer and Herbs:

Engaging in warfare through prayer aims to bring about specific desired results in the spiritual realm. Likewise, utilizing herbs for their medicinal properties serves as a comparison, as they are used with a purpose to achieve specific desired physical results.

#8 - Faith and Love, &Immune System:

Faith and love harmoniously to build and protect, working together to prevent destruction in the spiritual realm. Similarly, our immune system acts as a defense mechanism, working together to protect and defend our physical bodies from harm.

Biblical Naturopathy, as envisioned by Bill Yeary, offers a profound understanding of the correlation between physical and spiritual health. By recognizing the parallels between the two, we realize the significance of cultivating spiritual disciplines in our lives. Developing spiritual habits can have a positive impact on our physical well-being, contributing to a balanced and holistic approach to health.
